Who can volunteer?
Any University of Illinois student can volunteer. All majors welcome!
When can I start volunteering?
You can start volunteering as soon as your background check clears (Champaign) or you get your fingerprinting done (Urbana) and you have contacted your Vis a Vis coordinator, site coordinator, and teacher and they have said they are ready for you to go in!
How do I get to the school?
Almost all of the schools are accessible by bus. You can find a bus route at cumtd.com
How do I know if my background check is cleared?
Either your Vis A Vis Coordinator will let you know or the site coordinator.
Do these hours count towards my 50 hours for the College of Education Application?
Yes! However the classroom teacher needs to sign your hours verification forms, Vis A Vis cannot verify your hours.
What do I do if I want to keep my placement for the next semester?
You first need to make sure it is OK with the classroom teacher then you can come to Registration nights and let us know what your plans are.
What do I do if I am having issues with my current placement?
You need to contact your Vis a Vis coordinator and discuss the issue and find a solution together.
What happens if I need to stop volunteering in the middle of the semester?
You need to contact your Vis a Vis coordinator, site coordinator, and teacher and let them know when and why you are no longer volunteering, and turn in any last hours.
